I favor Martinez, in the pro level Sergio has proven himself against top fighter. Yet haven't seen that from Pirog.
However, Pirog has the style to give Martinez hell and possibly beat him.
I think it is a good fight and the best fight that could be made at MW.Comment

I think if there was a ever a fighter to get a soft touch it's Sergio Martinez.
The man had to become champ the hard way unlike many of the fighters today.
So, Lee is a heavy underdog against Martinez.
So what?
Martinez deserves a nice payday.
This will also shut Emanuel Steward's mouth. Emanuel has done nothing but hate on Martinez for some reason. He has said nothing but negative comments every time Martinez has fought on HBO.
For that reason alone I want this fight to happen.Comment

You know what's a joke? Ander Berto fighting bums for that last 3-4 years on HBO and making a million and half for each fight.
Look at Sergio Martinez's last 4 fights. It's been against top notch fighters in 2 weight divisions. And he doesn't even get paid 7 figures to fight these top fighters,
That's a joke.
So Andy Lee is not a top notch fighter. Big deal. Sergio Martinez deserves an easy fight and get paid for it.Comment

IF this fight gets made (which i doubt) Lee will surprise a lot of people by knocking Martinez out and becoming the new WBC world champ.
You might think im crazy but i will bump this just to show i was right about Lee all along.....Comment

Yeah I do agree, but theres still questions that need to be answered for Martinez. He hes faced 4 top fighters and lost to 2 of them, though obviously impressive against Pwill. He hasn't faced many different styles, and as far as styles go, Pirogs much more versatile and a much more difficult than the other 4. An awkward and slick fighter who can hit hard and has amazing composure gives everyone in and around middleweight fits. IMO Martinez is very overrated in terms of skill, and he can be hit a lot, his best win being over Williams is somewhat deceptive, his style is serious kryptonite and displayed a lot of his strengths against Williams. I'm not discrediting Martinez, his recent string of victories is great and he is deservedly atop 5 p4p fighter but he is easy to hit, doesn't always pace himself well and is not the most technical fighter despite what people think. I'm probably being biased since I'm a big Pirog fan but his dispatching of Jacobs was very impressive, an outsider coming to America for the first time and fighting so comfortably despite being the underdog was great. I'm not 100% convinced he will win but I certainly do favor him and it would be a sick fight to watch.Comment

That's the problem with boxing. Boxers can never get any credit for wins. It's always, "Oh, but he was moving up in weight", "If it weren't for that lucky punch he would have lost", "It was the weight", "It was the brand of gloves", " etc.Yeah I do agree, but theres still questions that need to be answered for Martinez. I read these forums and the things that are written are comical. For every praise their is someone who thrashes the win.
Sergio just knocked out a top fighter in devasting fashion in 2 rounds. He had beaten the middleweight champion of the world earlier this year. Before that fight he fought probably the best fight of the year against Paul Williams. Before that he should have gotten a knockout win against Cintron but was robbed not once but twice in that fight. Not to mention, that many people thought he was robbed against Williams the first time around.
Stop with the hating, and just praise the fighter for what he has accomplished.
There is so much hate in boxing, and that's the reason why the sport is sinking.Last edited by LAFIRPO; 11-30-2010, 04:55 PM.Comment
