    Berto vs. Khan at 145lbs.

DiBella stated that there's a chance (albeit a slim chance) that Berto could take on the winner of Khan-Maidana at a 145lbs catch-weight. If Khan beats Maidana and agrees to the catch-weight fight, who wins? (I think Khan beats Maidana because Maidana is slow and lacks the skills in order to get past Khan's jab and defense).

Berto's belt would be on the line so a chance of Khan becoming a two-division champion. Beating Berto would probably put him top-12 pound-for-pound. Maybe even at number 10, having beaten Kotelnik, Malignaggi, Maidana and Berto in his last 5 fights.

However, if Berto beats Khan, I don't think Berto would be rated top-10 pound-for-pound (probably because people will just use Khan's chin as an excuse and not give Berto credit for the win).

    My ratings:

    Speed:

    Berto: A.
Khan: A or A+ (not sure whether he'd lose some speed moving up to 145lbs)

    Power:

    Berto: B+
Khan: B+ (I think Khan's power is under-rated and will increase when he moves up in weight).

    Defense:

    Berto: B
    Khan: B

    Chin:

    Berto: B (It's untested so I'm giving it a B).
Khan: C- (I think it's improve since his Lightweight days, and I think his punch resistance will improve when he moves up in weight).

Then there's other things like Heart, Stamina, Tactics (e.g. having Freddie Roach in your corner) etc.

    My Prediction:

I'm picking Berto by late stoppage. Khan is my favourite boxer but right now, I can't see him beating Berto. Why? Because he's never faced somebody as good as Berto (over-rated as Berto may be) and Khan has never faced somebody with both speed and power - Berto has both.

I think Khan can use his slightly superior speed and his size and reach advantage in order to out-box Berto using his awesome jab, but eventually Berto catches Khan on the whiskers and puts him down.

Khan has heart and will get up if knocked down but the ref might have to jump in and stop in as Khan could be out on his feet if you know what I mean (I don't think Berto will KHTFO with one-punch - ala Martinez-Williams).

I'd love Khan to win though as I'm a big big fan (not on Wazaa proportions though :P).

Nice analysis, but I actually think Khan wins this, hes the taller guy and will use that to his advantage, his jab is better also.. which would be key for Khan to win.

He also has far superior handspeed and better footwork, UD Khan, he will dance around him all night and frustrate.

Don't be fooled, Berto doesn't hit that hard and Khan takes a better punch at the higher weights, in a few fights I expect the glass chin comments to be gone.

Hmmmm. I see. I've only seen Berto fight 3 times so I guess I don't know that much at all about him. I have noticed his stamina problems though.

Reginald, I also agree that in a few fights, by the time he's at Welterweight, his glass-chin reputation would have gone. No doubt he'll take a better punch at Welter.

Khan's power is under-rated so perhaps he can stop Berto. If he sets him up with his jab and lands those right straights of his, Berto's in trouble. But I can't help but think that Khan is still a bit vulnerable to somebody with good speed and good power that has skill (like Berto). Bradley has skill and speed but no power. Alexander has power and speed but not much skill compared to Khan. Ortiz is probably Khan's biggest threat at JWW imo.

berto is exactly the kinda a fighter that would stop khan. a guy with speed and pop. i would guess it would end early in bertos favor. cause theres just no way berto wouldnt tag him on the chin.

the only unknown is if khans chin has improved somewhat. it will never be great but his current batch of nonpunchers since the prescott loss hasnt answered that question.

and in all reality maidana is probably not skilled enough to get a definitive answer from either ... but at this point imo beto by stoppage

I would give it to Berto by KO cuz he's faster than the average Khan opponent. And I think his power is good enough when combined with his speed that he would stop Khan.

But personally I would put Berto's Power rating at about B+ and Khan's more along the lines of B- or C+. Khan's not solid enough in the body for his power to increase when he moves up in weight. His power may be a little underrated, from what I've seen, not by much.

Also when it comes to defense, I would have Khan around an A- maybe a B+ and Berto's around a B- maybe C+. Khan's foot movement and upper body speed along with the fact he doesn't really take chances makes him a solid defensive fighter, while Berto's defense, at least as of late, seems like it's really lacking.

"oh here we go again, so here we go again with this"(Floyd v Brian Kenny). Maidana is THE TEST for Khan's chin. If he gets past Maidana without being knocked down, then Berto and co are in for a hek lot of trouble.

Berto has trouble making 147, 145 he would be badly drained.

                    Khan by KO.
