Alexander Povetkin fighting Tye Field's leftover Nicolas Firtha

Alexander Povetkin is scheduled to fight tomato can Nicolas Firtha on Dec 18 in Germany.

Firtha was KOed in Edmonton by none other than Tye Fields, with boxingscene poster "joe strong" at ringside.

Povetkin was regarded as a top heavyweight prospect a few years ago, and fought very good opposition in his earlier fights. He won the IBF's four fighter eliminator to become mandatory challenger, defeating a good fighter in the final (Eddie Chambers).

But since hooking up with Teddy Atlas as his trainer/advisor, his career has gone into a nosedive! He's become the joke of the heavyweight division.

Teddy would advise against it, he doesn't even have enough faith in Povetkin to want to see him in with Tye.

Is Povetkin waiting for the Klitschkos to retire or something? He's not exactly a "spring chicken" himself.

Yes. Many boxers begin to decline at Povetkin's age or a little older.

He needs to step up soon, or he's wasted his pro career.

or they wait till october next year when haye retires from boxing and they can box for the vacant belt! I heard the winner of ibragimov vs mormeck will get
the number 3 spot by the wba!

Sauerland has one option left with Haye, so they may want to have him fight Povetkin.
