At the Coliseo Pepe Mayen in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, 2008 Olympic gold medal winner Felix Diaz (8-0, 5 KOs) won a five round technical decision over Edinson Garcia (17-11, 6 KOs), after the Colombian fighter injured his leg and was unable to continue. The welterweight contest was scheduled for eight rounds. Diaz, 26-years-old, would like to step it up in 2011, but his target weight is not clear. He often jumps between 140 and 147-pounds. He ends the year with five fights.

Thanks for the post but I wish there was some more info regarding the fight. For example, was he winning easily or was it a close fight or was he getting the crap beaten out of him? You understand.

As far as his weight class...I think he is a natural 147 pounder but that's just my silly opinion. Although I wouldn't mind seing him in there with some of the top dogs @140lbs but he is still a little green for that. I'll give him another 2years or so. He's been improving...the cuban trainer is doing a good job and the kid seems responsible and focused. Let's hope for the best but its too soon to tell.
