here's why a prime (the one that beat Floyd in their 1st fight)Castillo stops or KO's Marquez.

#1 size-Castillo was a big ****in 135lbs
#2 durability- the guy was an iron tank with a Magarito like chin
#3 underated skills- You think someone with no skills, foot work, slipping, ducking , inside fight game and versatility of offense(great jab, great Uppercut, overhand right, killer body shots) could have put an ass whooping on lil Floyd?
#4 Marquez's warrior heart would have led him down the warpath with a relentless Castillo forcing a brutal inside war that Marquez no shape no how survives.

Diaz wasn't "finished" in that first fight, he fought well in spots and only lost once to Campbell.

Castillo in his prime was a massive lw, I don't know who to pick in this fight because Castillo was a very skilled guy. Yet some people make it sound like he was some crude slugger or something.

Marquez has been my favorite fighter for the last ten years plus but i dont know if he could beat a prime Castillo. I would bet Marquez hits the deck in a match against Castillo and with that in mind the; fight would be competitive and make it to the score cards that could go either way for Marquez or Castillo

Marquez recent run at lightweight has been impressive but I would not favor any of those guys against a prime castillo especially the version of casamayor Marquez fought

Castillo by UD. Marquez's chin and heart would bring him to the score cards, but I could see him tasting the canvas at least once.

I saw what you meant in the Casamayor rematch. It's terrible though because Chico's jab could be effective but he would abandon it. Don't get me wrong, I exaggerated by making that statement, but I still feel Corrales was a blood and guts warrior, a real throwback type fighter, not so much a boxer.

For example, most guys who can box that start moving up to higher weight classes don't necessarily depend on their "devastating power" that reigned over smaller weights but rather shifted toward their boxing ability to win fights.

I think we both can agree that Corrales oozed more machismo than Razor Ramon, though.

You're absolutely right on Chico's unreal power. The bold is exactly what I meant. The guy posted that it's "crazy" to think JMM would KO Castillo and I don't think it's irrational at all.

We've seen guys with tough beards get ko'd (recently PWill and Margarito by Mosley). I just happen to find that just off Marquez's counter-punching ability, it would make him less susceptible than Castillo in exchanges.

To make it as if just because Mayweather doesn't ko somebody means nobody else can actually sounds a bit off to me, especially considering Mayweather uses an accumulation to stop his opponents if he does.

Nobody oozed more machismo than Razor Ramon, you crazy? That toothpick was serious.

But I'm glad you watched. Corrales was a blood and guts warrior but he was a very, very capable boxer who at one point was rated higher than Floyd Mayweather pound for pound. And his war against Castillo was epic not because of their heart but because of their skill. It was breathtaking - the combos, fluidity..everything.

no I am basing it off of the shellacking JLC took against Chico who at 135 was one of the hardest punchers in the sport. He landed bombs on JLC and still could not get him off his feet

100% agree. In terms of power, Marquez couldn't hold Corrales' jockstrap.
