how sad is it when pullcounter goes around pretending to be black in threads?

its because the general public does not know these names. People who follow close know these names but thats it. 5000 is a pretty crappy turn out. I remember when James and I fought on the same card it drew like 11 or 12,000. James was just fighting a inbetween bout between his defenses.............Rockin'Comment

For example, Paul Williams has been featured on HBO countless times, yet it looked like there were only a few hundred people attending his fight against Kermit Cintron. Seriously. I wouldnt be very surprised if there were 500 people there.
Compare that to Devon Alexander, who's relatively new to the spotlight, but easily brings crowds of 10,000+ every time he fights in St. Louis.
The promoters did their job in making the 4,900 that attended the Marquez/Katsidis card aware that the fight was happening.
All a promoter can do is to make the public aware that there's a fight, tell them in whatever fashion that it's a fight worth seeing, and leave it up to the public to decide if they want to come.Last edited by paulf; 11-29-2010, 05:11 AM.Comment

Fck we get it, stop making up threads with the intention of setting up justification for ur pinoy lover not to fight a top 5 p4p fighter who gave two fights of he'll and has fought better opposition than PAC has done recently, pacquiao should rematch dlh right since it'll sell more right?Comment

Cab was fighting a not so big name..
Berto has two people in his fan base (his brother and his dad)
Marquez was fighting a C rated fighter in Katsidas..
Luckily it wasnt another one of Golden Girl Promotions PPV..Comment

We don't know how much the gate did. It can be about 5k seats but at what price? Berto is not a draw especially against some Freddy Hernandez and who is Caballero anyway? If that card sold 5k is more cause of Marquez it a tough weekend to sell a fightComment

Boxing sells like sand in Egypt. It's strictly a niche sport now, much like table tennis, bowling, billiards, etc.
The greatness it once enjoyed helps it sell PPV's, but we know it's just the very few (Floyd, Manny) that can even touch 1m buys.
The best don't fight the best enough, so when they do, nobody cares. The commissions are corrupt, everyone makes up their own rules, and so many other things wrong with the sport.
Example, Manny can make 140 lbs easily and meet Marquez there. But he won't, he'll fight Mosley instead (and TKO him) for twice the money.Comment

It didn't draw because the fight was in Las Vegas. Put that card on in Houston, LA, Ciudad de Mexico or in Australia and it sells 5 figures.Comment
