Boxer's need a persona or stigma

With the recent attendance numbers it's no surprise that American's flock to fights involving "drama" and "Money" ala Mayweather. Let alone his undefeated record.

Manny's "nice guy" image does 'some' justice. It's mostly his one sided beat downs that draw the general public.

It's no wonder the most anticipated fight is "good" vs "evil" in the sport.

More fighters need their own stigma or personality to boost boxing as a whole.

That is most likely a huge reason Manny vs Floyd is being milked for all it's worth. The sport depends on it. If Manny and Floyd retired permanently tomorrow who would fill the void to promote big numbers to the general public as a widely known fighter? Sadly there isn't one. Let alone two. Who would generate the publics interest in a fight.

As good as his win was...Who's heard of Martinez outside of fight fans?
