It was good to see cranky, prickly, witty Larry tonight.

I love the fact that larry doesnt always tow the hbo company line & is always scathing with his honesty. From the lolipop comment to the honest assessment of berto's opponents to his opinion on who he thinks won the marquez pac fight to his witty creative analogies, it was vintage larry merchant tonight.

In fact, I like most the HBO commentators for the same reason. They seem to give their opinion, regardless of working for HBO.

people say that merchant needs to retire but its jim lampley that needs to go. guy fumbles his words, even when describing the action he incorrectly says which punch landed & who landed the punch, gets a lot of boxing facts & analysis wrong too.

i think lamps never fixed his drinking problem.
