I don't like how he lounges after a single jab to hold and fight on the inside. I guess he's not Floyd Mayweather. I wish he could fight better on the outside too. Mix Ward and Direll with Floyd's accuracy (actually Floyd alone is perfect as a human can be but anyway) and you have the perfect fighter.

he clearly has huge talent but his dirty tactics and holding is just shocking at times

Yes.

And after Bika hit him with a clean shot, the referee pushed Bika back roughly.

Ward was doing all kinds of dirty stuff like headbutting and repeatedly holding Bika's. But the referee only admonished Bika, who was a bit dirty but not not nearly as bad as Ward.
