Even in my anthropology classes people would become visibly frightened when physical differences between racial groups were discussed.

In 2008 or so there was some heart medication that worked way better on black Americans than on other Americans and you had teenagers with cardboard signs marching screaming that race doesn't exist, as if more effectively preventing heart attacks was racist.

I guess it's what you have to do to keep the country in one piece though, the silent treatment. But as a result you have people who think Latino is a race and that caucasian is a synonym for anglo-saxon, etc.
