Comments Thread For: Martinez: I Don't Blame Arum For Protecting Pacquiao

Are you people serious? Has your hate for Manny Pacquiao driven you insane?
Manny Pacquiao as great as he is and has been the last few times has a limit in terms of going up in weight. Yes he won a 154lbs title using a 150lbs catchweight which he didn't even make. Now some of you haters are so blinded that you want him to fight the Middleweight champ or he is ducking him? What's next asking Manny why he isn't fighting in the Super 6?
This fight won't happen because none of them can make a comfortable weight for them to meet each other in a fight.
If anything, I would assume a Floyd vs. Martinez fight could be made at 155lbs since Floyd is a bigger guy than Manny. However, if that fight wasn't made I wouldn't say Floyd is ducking Martinez either.
Some of the people that post on these boards need to put their Haterade down.Comment

I understand what you're saying, but, if some else is calling themselves pound for pound champions(Mayweather and Pac man) then prove it. after all, that's what pound for pound means "pound for pound refers to who the best fighter is regardless of weight class." Sergio wants to be recognized as the PFP champ, that's why hes going after those fighters.
LOL! That's how you understand the P4P rankings? So, when Calderon was in the top 10 P4P of almost everyone's list, he could've challenge Chad Dawson or BHop so he could move up? LMAO!!!Comment

Sergio's team still talking *****. he wants to become p4p. why not fight a guy bigger rather than calling out Manny who they reffered "small guy".
they probably dont know p4p means how good a boxer is regardless of weight? Pac has done it many times. so was Floyd. why cant Sergio do it? there are plenty of competition in a super middleweight. im sure he is not "too small" for those guys.
if you have to fight number 1 and number 2 P4P to become number 1 why Andre Ward, Lucian Bute and some other boxers are not calling out Manny or FLoyd if thats what Sergio' team think about becoming P4P number 1? are they really that ****** thinking he has to beat number 1 or 2 even though they are not on the same division?Comment

Tell me something why is it ok for Pacquiao not to come in at the agreed upon weight but not Mayweather? Everyone (*******s) gave Mayweather **** for not coming in at the agreed upon weight with Marquez by 2 pounds. But Pac misses the agreed upon weight with Margarito by 4 pounds and noone says anything? Mayweather said he wanted to fight at a weight he was comfortable at. Pac said he wanted to retain speed. So if Mayweather cheated then so did Pac. I think if Mayweather fights Pac he should demand Pac pay 10 million dollars for every pound he's under 147. Fair is fair no double standards. People said Mayweather has a history of not coming in at the agreed upon weight (after only ONE catchweight fight) and now so does Pac. So let's keep it real. OH and didn't Freddie Roach say Pac is a natural welterweight now? Yeah so no more talk about how Pac is really a lightweight or jww.
This takes the cake! LMAO!!!
Hey you *****s! You got a bradah here on the loose!Comment

I like what Martinez is doing here putting on the pressure on Pacquiao without deliberately down grading his opponent got to respect that, the man simply wants that big fight he rightfully has earned.
The constant argument happens to be that Martinez calling out Pacquiao is outrageous because of the size difference. Martinez has had 2 fights as a full fledged middleweight: Martinez-Williams I and Martinez-Pavlik. He is the middleweight champion because he beat the man who beat the man.(pavlik) That's it, he has not fought the other middleweight contenders but make no mistake he beat the 2 most dangerous guys in that division. Pacquiao has had 2 fights as a full welterweight and yet many still consider him a junior welterweight. Martinez is challenging Pacquiao for the same title he was stripped this same year, so how is that abnormal? Martinez has fought most his career as 154 as I pointed out before he has officially fought as a middleweight for 2 fights. The Williams rematch was as a catchweight so I don't count that. A point can be made if Martinez has been a career middleweight like Sturm or Abraham then yes I agree he should not be calling out Pacquiao. Or Lucian Bute calling out Pacquiao, I believe that is outrageous. Those guys have made their careers at those higher weight classes so they are naturally a lot bigger than a guy like Pacquiao.
I will make a blunt statement, Arum is not concerned about Martinez's size. What he is doing protecting his financial assets. What he is concerned about is Martinez's skill and the problems he may present to Pacquiao if they were to fight. The size issue is a decoy do not get confused. If Pacquiao were to lose to Martinez, Arum would lose his cash cow and Arum is not ****** enough to take this risk. Food for thought, if Martinez was a Top Rank fighter this fight would probably be made in a heartbeat. Arum would be winning on both sides and a Martinez win over Pacquiao would mean he can fall back on Martinez as a strong financial asset and Pacquiao would still be his cash cow because Pacquiao a loved fighter by the public.Comment

martinez does not understand that being the pound for pound king does not need to come within his weight class .... it just so happen that the no. 1 & no. 2 is within the weight class .... sergio does not understand boxing at all .... just because he knocked out williams, does not mean he is up high in the pound for pound category ....Comment

He was a week late. Pac said after the Margo fight that he will go back down to 147, he just felt the power of a 165 pounder, he's still a belt holder there. Martinez came in at 168 against PWill, imagine the world of hurt he can do to Pacman, but if Martinez can go down to 147, it will be a different story. I'll be the first one to crucify Pacquiao if he doesn't take the fight...Comment
