Comments Thread For: Martinez: I Don't Blame Arum For Protecting Pacquiao

WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez told BoxingScene.com that he doesn't blame Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, for refusing his catch-weight proposal for a Manny Pacquiao fight. Martinez was willing to fight Pacquiao at 155-pounds, which Arum rejected. Pacquiao holds the WBC title at 154-pounds, but he plans to return to the welterweight division in his next fight.

If Pacquiao/Floyd ain't happening this would be the second best match-up in the sport with Pacquiao/Martinez at 154. It's two skillful fighters in that ring. Pacquiao can retire after Martinez fight, and Floyd can finally come out of Vacation to fight Matthew Hatton.

Pacquiao would retire after fighting Martinez alright.

But then again, fat chance of that, because when has Manny ever fought a top fighter, who was on top of his game?

Gotta' love Martinez putting the pressure on these guys. Both Floyd and Manny need to step up the level of their opposition. It's about time. That being said, I don't think either of them fights Martinez.

Don't forget Arum did not who Martinez was when he made the fight with Kelly.

                Manny will keep ducking Martinez.

Martinez will probably make 1.5 million at most fighting Pacquiao. He could probably make 1 million per fight with bums just like Berto has been doing if he wanted to. It's definitely not about the money.

Martinez would make more than that if Margarito made 7 million to fight Pacquiao. Margarito would have made only about 3-4 million but the ppv sold pretty good and his payday went up. But I do agree with the fact that its not just about the money but fighting the p4p number 1 fighter in the world aswell.
