Comments Thread For: How Arthur Abraham-Carl Froch Shapes The Semifinals

By Jake Donovan - We know that they will give us one hell of a fight. But who in the hell will they fight afterwards?

Such is the question inquiring minds want to know regarding the outcome of this weekend’s Stage Three matchup between Arthur Abraham (31-1, 25KO) and Carl Froch (26-1, 20KO).

In addition to the fight threatening to serve as a Fight of the Year contender based on the fighters’ styles, adding to its significance is the fact that it’s the last remaining fight that has any impact on the semifinal brackets of the Showtime Super Six World Boxing Classic. this **** got too complicated

they should just make the most interesting bouts in the semis, screw the points

even if AA-Froch is a FOTY, I don't want to see them rematch immediately

    I would personnaly like this : Ward-Froch and Johnson-AA

Okay now i'm not so sure if I want AA to knock Froch out cause I don't want to see a rematch i'd rather see a fresh fight.

The funny thing about the seedings is that it's hardly advantageous. It's not like other pro sports, where home court becomes a factor. No matter how they're seeded, I wouldn't necessarily say that any one fighter has that much of an advantage over another.

I don't see Ward being anxious for Froch to remain the #4 seed, or hoping that he gets to fight either Abraham or Johnson first. I don't see Glen Johnson rooting for Froch to get knocked out so he can fight Ward first instead of Abraham.

No matter the matchups, it's a tough out for all four involved and I can't imagine any more fights taking place in Oakland (bad enough Ward was never forced to leave for any of his bouts). With the suggestion that the semis are taking place in the states, the removal of home field for any fighter kind of takes away from the anticipation of seeding, at least IMO.

I think AA has a damn good chance of winning. But I'm going with Froch. I think he'll keep his distance and disturb AA w/ his awkward style. If Froch gets in too many exchanges, he's going to sleep.

            So,

Abraham wins by KO/TKO - leaves us with a rematch, and Ward/Johnson
Abraham by decision - leaves us with Abraham/Johnson, Froch/Ward
Froch win - leaves us with Froch/Johnson, Abraham/Ward

            War Froch!!!

Wow, any of these match-ups are good fights. However, I am pulling for Froch today for no other reason that I felt AA truly knew Dirrell was on the ground and calculatingly hit him anyway. And I know people say that AA was coming on and would've knocked Dirrell out, but if Dirrell would have made it out of the eleventh round, I think he would have ran the last round and gave that one away and would still have won the fight easily. I don't think Dirrell was acting and I may be the only one who believes he is legitimately suffering from that DQ shot. But this is what I don't understand:

EVERYONE stated that AA had devastating KO power before the match-up. Now, after Dirrell gets hit while he was down and didn't see the punch coming, get's laid out and everyone now says he barely tapped him and Dirrell was acting (great act, considering 5 minutes later he had no idea what happened or how it happened). And anyone remember when George Foreman barely tapped other heavyweights? Now imagine a 'tap' when you don't even see it coming from a so-called devastating puncher. And Dirrell's career could be over before it really got started. And trust me, I didn't really like Dirrell's style but I do feel bad for a guy who had a bright future getting cut short by a cheap shot....

So, all I gotta say now is... WAR FROCH!!!
