Is ROY jONES SR. a good boxing trainer?

Never hear much about him, not sure if he wasnt able to crack into the boxing establishment..or had no desire to play the politics..Tell me about this man who raised one of the greatest there ever was. Why isnt he as prominent as Mayweather Sr.

He along with Jack Mosley and Enzo Calzaghe raised some real greats. Oscars dad was his trainer for many years too. Not just Floyd Sr.

he didn't care much for dogs....

On a serious note, his son had so much natural talent its hard to tell how good of a trainer he truly was.

You can tell a good trainer by there ability to go out a do good with other fighters. Emmanuel Steward had great success with Hearns, then Lewis, and now with Wladimir Klitschko. Roach has success with Pacquiao, khan and others.

Now with Roy Sr., who has he trained beside Roy Jr. That right there answers your question on his ability as a trainer. I feel most sons are just loyal but you notice when they start to make it big time, they often dump their dads as trainers.....ala Shane with Jack, Roy with Sr.
