However, give it 2 more years and you got a much closer fight. Khan's chin has still got question marks, but he's a 100% new fighter under Roach, much better defence, footwork, better boxing brain. I'm not trying to be like "Wazaa" here lol, but generally ppl do over-critisise him. Guy has come a LONG way since the prescott fight, takes alot of guts/bravery to step in the ring with a legend ie Barrera only 2 fights after, regardless if he was shot. Then to win a world title against a mechanical yet resilient champ in Kotelnik. Goota give credit/respect where its's due.
Also, at this point in time, a fight between the two would not make sense at all. It won't make financial sense since Khan doesn't have that big a following.... yet. And it won't help Pac legacy wise since Khan hasn't proven himself yet. He still needs to build up his rep to make a match with Pac truly a significant fight.

Unfortunately, time is running out and Pac may retire before Khan would be ready for him.

not very big on sparring partners fight each other. its like given them alot of money for a high profile sparring session.they know each other very well.if pac beats khan with roach in his corner then pac retires.khan may go else where for training from the bad blood that can come from this.

Two parts: I kinda disagree with you in regards to sparring partners facing each other in an actual fight. I've seen it go down both ways.

Second part, I agree. Roach is probably thinking ahead. He has the current cash cow and a potential cash cow in Khan. Why risk burning bridges, you're right.

However, Roach did actually do this already. Remember when PAC was already with Roach, and he ditched PAC to train De La Joto in Puerto Rico and PAC was actually butt hurt about the whole situation because Roach came out to the media and stated that if PAC wants to train he needs to come to PR and that PAC has to understand it's simply business.

This is how PAC got started with training in the Philippines, the first was his rematch with MAB. Do any of you remember this.

So, in the end, I really think Roach's only loyalty is wherever the $$$ is at.

If anyone believes at this point Khan has a good chance of winning against Pac needs to consider a few things. The Pac vs. Marg fight was a very hard fight to market, with the hand wraps, Marg being viewed as undeserving and most of all, Marg was not Floyd Mayweather, which was the fight everyone wanted to see.

So, the only way to help market the fight was to say "Khan making Pac look bad in sparring, Pacman is being spread too thin, Pacman's age is catching up with him, Pacman doesn't have the desire to train like he used to, etc." But what happened in the fight? Pacquaio destroyed Margarito and I'd bet anyone that Khan would have a much more difficult time beating Margarito than Pacquiao did and if the chinny Khan got caught in the 6th round like Manny did, he would have went to sleep.

The bottom line is Roach is smart to keep Khan away from Pac as long as he can. He knows that Khan has a huge future ahead for him after Manny retires and Khan getting obliterated by Pacquiao before Manny retiring could hurt his potential earnings down the road...

monte fisto you made some good points. but these younger fighters are naive and money talks. its business for the trainers who have boxed themselves but the young fighters can look at it as total betrayal.depending on the outcome of the fight.

Amir Khan I dont think will ever be pound for pound #1 with Jose Jr 18 years, Frankie Gomez 18 years, Sadam Ali 22 years and Jonathan Gonzalez 21 years in at Lightwelterweight or Welterweight, he will never rule or dominate, too much competition, better and more skilled than he is. But I still think he can beat Pac, pretty easily, in my opinion.

Why are the names Pac and Khan being mentioned?

                    Pacterd logic:

Why is a JMW picking on a JWW???? What a "coward"!

Why are they talking about Khan(con)? lol Avoiding two bigger names I see.... looks like a duck, smells like a duck....
