    Also, and I've seen some posts mentioning this but I think it bears repeating...

    Vargas damn near beat BOTH Trinidad and De La Hoya, and had he done that, who knows where he'd be. Tito's low blows and Oscar's "body armor" are the two main arguments, but those aside, he still had Tito hurt after the 4th round knockdown and had the scorecards about even until the championship rounds. Getting through that first round where Tito damn near decapitated him with two quick knockdowns was simply heart and guts.

    DLH showed me some grit and toughness withstanding Vargas' bullying in the odd rounds, eventually connecting with vicious left hooks. They were close fights, and it's just unfortunate for Vargas that they ended the way they did. He took such punishment in both fights, there's just no way he could ever be what he was.

    I know alot of this is repetitive, but I just wish for Vargas' sake he could have come out better than he did. But hey, he did fight two hall of famers and had both of them in trouble at times. You can't argue with his level of competition.
