Don't know but Cotto has established himself from being in fights against Torres, Judah, Mosley, Margarito, and Pacquiao. Of course Cotto would be making more money than Berto. Cotto also has a huge fan-base compared to Berto, I thought I heard Berto doesn't sell many seats out.

      That's a problem.

      HBO get it together!

I understand they are looking for a star, but overpaying for an underachiever isn't the answer.

Cotto sells seats and PPV's. Dude is worth the money he is paid. Berto, on the other hand, is not.

I don't believe those numbers are accurate.

HBO reportedly was paying $3M for Martinez-Williams II and the reason the fight was stalling was because Williams wanted a bigger split than 50/50. Martinez and his team weren't going to just get negotiated out of $500K to make the fight, so either HBO put a couple hundred thousand in the pot, Martinez and his team gave up a few % points on the split (but not more than $150K or 5 points worth), or Williams and his team just gave in and took the deal on the table.

Berto even being in the vicinity (of the $1.25M offered for the fight, Berto will be getting no less than 90%) of what Martinez and Williams are getting for risking their high status against each other is absurd and shows just how they continue to hurt boxing being in the position they're in with their idiotic decision making.
