It just shows that boxing is FAR from dead. Boxing has two superstars that can do more than 1M buys. And IMO that is simply astounding. When Oscar was at his prime he was the only one to do that. I could only imagine how many buys Pac/Mayweather would get. 3.5M perhaps? -

Yeah, but what happens after Pac/Floyd fights? How is their marketability going to be impacted when one of them loses. This is why part of me feels that for them not to fight means both can keep selling million PPVs on their own.It just shows that boxing is FAR from dead. As long as they give a good effort it shouldn't effect them that much. Tyson lost it didn't effect him. Oscar lost numerous times and his marketability and didn't effect him at all ever.Comment

Pac I understand, since he already lost before and he will always give it his all and have an action packed fight. But Floyd? we all know alot of people watch him to see his first loss, and he sells fights by advertising that he's undefeated. What happens to him if he does lose that 0? Floyd's not exactly the most action packed fighter out there that will draw casuals fans.Comment

Also shows that promoters like Goosen and Dibella need to get on their game. Absolutely no reason why Williams-Martinez II wasn't much bigger than it was.
Those guys and their fighters spent the whole time leading up to their fight talking about fantasy fights with Pacquiao, especially Paul. Hardly any mention of the bout at all. Dibella, for instance, has the lineal MW champion who has movie star looks and a style boxing fans appreciate... there's no reason why he isn't a much bigger star than he is, except maybe the language barrier. Those promoters need to buy the Don King/Bob Arum book on building up a fighter and stop trying to piggy back on Bob's work.Comment
