Margarito has spent a large part of his career making the welterweight limit (because that's where he was most effective), whereas it's been 7 years since Martinez fought in that region - that might have a lot to do with why Margarito finds it easier to shrink 3 or 4 pounds lighter than Sergio can at this stage of their respective careers. Regardless, they are essentially the same size.

burner uses the fight night weights of each, martinez at 168 and margarito at 165 (not 167 which burner purposefully tried to misinform with), to make the case they are of comparable size.

HOWEVER, the big whole in burner's argument is that margarito was able to get down to 150 lbs, where as martinez can not. martinez has said 156 is the lowest he'll go for either pac or wifebeater for the 160 lbs championship, I assume.

as for a possible fight between martinez and pac/wifebeater at 154 lbs, that too will be tough as someone on martinez's team, I think dibella, has stated that martinez can't make 154 lbs much less 150 lbs or will have serious trouble making it.

so, in conclusion....

In a nutshell what Dibella was saying is, Serg can't/wont drain himself. He can make 154/153 but it would drain him.

After a certain point you stop burning fat, now you're burning muscle. I think Freddy and Alex knows this, they look at the fighters weigh in history.
By doing this you can tell where a fighter would have trouble, so you target 2 maybe 3 pounds under that and now you have a drained fighter.

Marg/Serg/Oscar/Yuri..... All basically the same size.......
