Martinez:"My trainer would love that fight because he knows I would beat him(Floyd)"

MARTINEZ ON MAYWEATHER FIGHT: "MY TRAINER LOVES THE FIGHT BECAUSE HE KNOWS I WOULD BEAT HIM"
    By G. Leon

GL: Congratulations on your tremendous victory over Paul Williams. Can you give us some thoughts on your performance?

Sergio Martinez: "You know what? I fought the fight I needed to fight and the game plan was perfect and that's why I was victorious."

GL: Were you surprised that the fight was over inside of two rounds?

Sergio Martinez: "I knew I was going to win the fight by knockout. It could have happened in the first round, it could have happened in the twelfth round, but it was going to happen that night."

GL: In the second round when you scored the knockout were you trying to walk him into that left hand?

Sergio Martinez: "Yes, absolutely! That's a punch that I studied, I worked on and I actually planned. If you look at the fight, I landed that punch three times throughout the first round, so it was only a matter of time before I landed it perfectly."

GL: You landed it more than three times in the first fight. I asked that question because when I spoke with George Peterson the manager and trainer of Williams, he told me that he feels it was lucky punch and not a set trap. Is there anything you'd like to say in response?

SM: (laughing VERY hard) "What can I say? What can he say?"

GL: After the fight you did not really mention any names. You said you were going to listen to offers and go from there. I spoke to your trainer last night and he told me that his preference is Mayweather. Can you give me any juice or what? Tell me something you didn't give HBO after the fight?

SM: (laughs again) "I would truly just like to remain cool about it and wait for the offers. My trainer would love that fight because he knows I would beat him. But I'm going to keep it cool."

GL: Does keeping it cool really mean whichever fight makes the most dollars makes the most sense, so let's just wait and see?

SM: "Absolutely. That's exactly it. I want to make the best fight that the public wants to see, but economically I want to make a lot for myself, and my family throughout my career."

GL: Can you make 154 without hurting yourself or do you plan on remaining at 160?

SM: "Making weight shouldn't be a problem. It's going to cost me to make because I have so much mass muscle after three fights at middleweight, but that's something I have to take one day at a time based on offers. Once I'm 100% then I'll start worrying about the weight."

GL: When would you like your next fight to take place?

SM: "In a few months if possible, as soon as possible and against the best fighters in the world."

GL: Since you were the middleweight champion of the world entering the ring, did being introduced first and fighting out of the blue corner bother you at all?

SM: "Not at all, I knew none of that would have any impact on the result of the fight."

GL: The nature of that victory establishes you as a superstar in boxing. Have you considered defending your championship in Argentina?

SM: "Fighting in Argentina would be great, I would love it. But I would rather fight in Madison Square Garden because of its history or at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Those are the two places I prefer."

GL: Even though you would draw 50,000 people back home?

    SM: "Yes."

    GL: Closing thoughts?

SM: "First things first, I want to thank you for your time and giving me such a great interview. I want to thank all the fans for their support, I love them and I will be giving them more reasons to cheer

So who is Floyd going to fight now?

He suspects Pacroid of roiding. So be it. His natural choice would now be Martinez who's calling him out like crazy. Martinez is willing to bow down to Floydie's OST demands. I don't see any problem making this fight.

Well, we shall see soon. Vacation is almost over.
