Guys like Martinez is what boxing needs. People think catch weights are "destroying" boxing. No, they are not the most welcomed, but far from "destroying" boxing.
What's needed are guys that say "My ultimate goal is to be THE BEST!" or "I want to go down in history as one of the greatest fighters that ever lived." Or guys like Paul Williams who say "That's boxing. That's the way the cookie crumbles. He caught me with a great shot. I will come back"
Unfortunately, we get a lot of "I want to make as much money as I can and retire before I am 29" or "I just want to fight the champion at this weight and retire"
Ali didn't become great by retiring after a great win vs Liston. Leonard didn't become great after retiring from Benitez or Duran. Holyfield didn't become great after retiring from beating Douglas or Bowe II. Pacquaio didn't become great from retiring after beating Barrera.
Less Haye and more Martinez! More fighters who ACTUALLY want to be fighters is one of the major things Boxing needs back.
