His most recent fight from this past weekend is in the trading block. It was his biggest step up so far after 12 fights against Findley who was 17 (11KO) and 3 with 2 of his 3 losses coming against Dirrell and Ward at SMW.
Korobov was in control and dominated most of the action but my biggest critique is that he would occasionally stay on the ropes longer than he should have. He won 6 rounds to 2 on all 3 scorecards and the 2 rounds Findley got could have just as easily gone to Matvey.
In spite of my above criticism it does show one aspect about him that i really like. Although he has elite technical abilities, great athleticism, speed, reflexes etc he is a fighter at heart and can take a good shot too. He isn't afraid to engage, isn't uncomfterble when things are rough and has a fighters spirit. He isn't a pot shotter who is afraid to get hit or mix it up.
He is now working with Mike "The BodySnatcher" Mccallum and this was his second fight with him. Matvey has always been a very good body puncher and working with Mccallum could certianly improve an already strong part of his game. He really punished Findley's body and i can see him wearing alot of guys down and getting late stoppages in 10 and 12 round fights.
Some people were questioning his conditioning several fights ago and before the Greeridge fight he was out a while with a deviated septum which was said to be troubling him. He did not tire at all and kept a good workrate and combination punching all 8 rounds, same as the Greenridge fight. It seems like it hasn't been an issue since he has come back which is good to see.
