  • Another catchweight. Go figure.

Drain em and pound em. That's the name of Pacquiao's game.

    • If this fight goin to take place let it be for the WBC 154 belt. Let Manny defend that belt which really belonged to Martinez in the first place. Let Martinez get a chance to get his Jr. MW belt back, or for Manny to legitimize it..
No catchweights above or below the Jr. MW...

Thus, the catchweight make sense in leveling the playing field.

We keep comparing Pac's achievements against bigger opponents with those of Henry Armstrong's, but we forget that he fought at same-day weigh-ins. Armstrong's opponents actually didn't out-weigh him by as much as 17 lbs. on fight night. See boxrec for yourself.

The mere fact that people are *****ing about Pac facing a strong middleweight champ line Sergio at a hypothetical catchweight of 154-155 is testament to the fact that we have taken for granted how amazing Pac's achievements really are. How come we don't even entertain the same notion for the vacationing P4P'er?
You aware that Manny isn't a heavyweight? No, it isn't only 15 pounds... Arum made sense - can't be continuously fighting much bigger guys. And Sergio isn't just bigger, he's pretty fast and slick. You can call either(Arum and Manny) an ******, but this is just a case where the two fighters are truly in different divisions, even by a "little". I hope this makes sense to many here...

PS Not sure Manny would pull it out vs a healthy Sergio. But yeah, it likely would have been an awesome scrap!

And even the fight with Margarito, 150 catchweight was for his benefit not Manny's. Haters tend to forget these small details when trying to discredit Pac. Margarito was a Welterweight against Mosley. Did these haters hated on Mosley? I guess not. Mosley fought Margo at 147 and you call Sugar Shane great. Manny fought Margo at 150 and you laugh at his victory because it was on a catchweight that benefited Margo? Amazing isnt it. Even *****s, on second thoughts, would definitely realize this.

            • Hey Dibellaooooo, are you scared??? Pacaman just weighed 44 kg last fight. Now you are asking him to come to 155. If your man Martize is a man, let him come down to 147. Let's get it on...

They aren't making anyone do anything. That's simply their stance, to try to keep it fair. If Sergio really can't fight at 150, then it is just a case of them being too far apart. Plenty of cases like this in boxing.

                QUIT THE DUMB HATE/SARCASM.

Precisely my point! They are bashing Manny's camp for replying to their offer. Yet they give Dibella a pass for calling out a small man who is already max out at 144 lol. Very interesting.

If it would be draining for Sergio, it wouldn't be a fair fight. It can be argued otherwise, since it would kind of negate the size difference, but who really knows what effect it would have on the aging Sergio(See De La Hoya...)? I'd say Sergio is at least the man you are, since you posted this bs...

PS Manny weighted 44 kg? Figures...

I meant that if they fought at a same-day weigh-in, Sergio would fight at 160 lbs. (the maximum limit for middleweight) while Pac would likely fight at 145 where he is more comfortable. Thus, the weight differential would be no more that 15 lbs., compared to a difference of more than 20lbs. at a catchweight of 155 lbs. but where Sergio is given one day to rehydrate.

I agree that Pac's victory over Sergio would be greatly in doubt if that fight was to happen. Win or lose, it widens the gulf between his actual accomplishments and Mayweather's potential greatness.
