Comments Thread For: DiBella To Arum: "Let's Make Pacquiao-Martinez at 155"

Promoter Lou DiBella has responded to the recent comments that were made by Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank. During a recent interview with BoxingScene.com's Lem Satterfield, Arum said that he believed Manny Pacquiao would beat Sergio Martinez, but his fighter would be putting himself at a great disadvantage with respect to the difference in size and weight.

Pacquiao has already spoken. He said under 150 or no fight.

Martinez-Wright at the full 160 would be better than a catchweight fight if Mayweather and Pacquiao both duck Martinez.

I'm quite positive that the weight really isn't the issue...

But the fact it's Sergio Martinez and not some face-first brawler that pacman can outwork for 12 rounds.

martinez ko.s pacyow ,again pac will fight bigger guys but only when the bigger guy is old faded and has no shot at winning, since martinez would surely not only beat pac but end his career this fight will never get made period. look for manny to take on an other old shot guy like mosley, or jmm or someone thats easily beatable.

It's called negotiations.........Pac ain't Mayweather who doesn't budge on his demands coz he's afraid.

martinez said he can make 156 but wasn't going to go lower. i wouldn't if i were him, if pacquiao wants to be the man known for all his weight class achievements then he has to come up in weight.

seriously, i'm a fan of pacquiao's but he can't demand guys come down a weight class, then say he's fighting in his opponents weight class for that weight classes title, because it's really not that weight class.

i don't care of manny weighs 147 and wants to fight for a 160 belt, i say let him, but don't make that guy come down to 150 and say you fought a middleweight.........

if you want to fight a middleweight let him be a middleweight and weigh a middleweights weight and have the fight............

now if pacquiao gets the other fighter to agree with the negotiations then that is on his opponent and it means he knows the rules and has agreed to them and so the weight demands for me would not be a problem (catchweights and conditions) because i know that the fighter knew his situation and agreed to it, so no sympathy there if it turns bad for em......

He said he knows it won't be the next fight. Give it some time.

155 is laughable. Martinez just weight in at 157 against Pwill. It wont kill him to make 155. Pacquiao cant weight more than 150 even if he tried. If Martinez wants to fight Pacquiao come to 147 or at a catchweight between 147 and 155. 70-30 split for Pacquiao of course.
