I think the result of Saturday’s rematch merits a significant leap forward in the mythical ratings for Martinez, but I still don‘t think he‘s done enough to knock off pound-for-pound stal***** Pacquiao, Mayweather and Marquez. I’m probably going to have Martinez leap-frog the K-bros (to the No. 4 spot) because Williams and Pavlik are way more formidable than the heavyweights the Ukrainian giants have been smacking around lately.

If you or anyone else wants to rate Martinez No. 1 on principle, be my guest. I will not argue with you. Martinez is a superb talent, a complete boxer-warrior, a great story, a class act, and THE middleweight champ. If fans want to call him “the best” I say go for it. Plus, I don’t take the pound-for-pound ratings that seriously.

Just because you are P4P#1 doesn't mean you can have weak ass fights in Brickwall Clottey and Brickfists Margo and still be number 1... well in this case ye!.
Floyd and Manny have been entrenched for a decade (or more), hard to get at those two unless you have longevity. JMM is pretty established also but I think he is a good bit behind those two.
Sergio has to run 160 for a minute to really be pressing those guys which he stands a good shot at doing since the division is pretty soft.
i agree, because those guys came up in weight, more weight that martinez has, but martinez is right there with them, just not passing them, i can wrap my head around that mind set.
with a couple more high profile wins i'd say he can pass them, weight class will be a determining factor in all this but fighting smaller guys would be a argument point about whether or not he's P4P top dog or not, but what i'm getting at is his skill level and accomplishments have him on the this, at least mine, and have him in the top 4 or 5, but until a few more fight, we'll have to see what he does and how he does before he can be top dog on the p4p list.
Sergio needs more fights. Knocking out PW does not impress me. He needs to more wins a against people on the P4p List to move past PBF and PAC and JMM.
Doug fischer thanks for your opinion, but boxing fans arent dumb and already know it. Dont worry. In the next issue of ring magazine Sergio isnt going to be no1 on the basis that Sergio fans come out of the woodwork telling us how good Sergio is.
Its probably the fact he is being touted as future opponents for Pac, or even floyd that he is mentioned in p4p honours.
