Comments Thread For: Ariza: Pacquiao Can Easily Fight Marquez at 140-Pounds

Alex Ariza, the strength and conditioning coach of Manny Pacquiao, would still like his boxer to face Juan Manuel Marquez in a trilogy battle. The frontrunners to fight Pacquiao in May are Floyd Mayweather Jr., Shane Mosley and Andre Berto. Ariza and Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach are pushing for Marquez, while Pacquiao's adviser Michael Koncz, and Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, prefer Mosley as the "Mayweather alternative."

i would love to see this fight at 140.

Manny Pacquiao will be too much for him at this point, but Marquez will pose a hand full of problems for Manny.

Nah i dont approve, JMM fight with Mayweather with him coming in at 142 showed he lacks speed and movement which he even said himself after the fight. JMM just wants a payday which will hurt me feelings cause he is my fav fighter and Pac will punish him at 140 n up cause Pac grown into the welterweight division and JMM only performs best at 135 n below.

Roach suggests Marquez because he believes that is a fight that Pacquiao could win easily, but Mosley is a fight he thinks would be difficult for Manny, so I don't think he'll push for it to happen.

Mosley v Pacquiao is the fight I'd like to see....would be a lot of action.

jmm has to look spectacular against katsidis to be considered as pac's next opponent and to create interest from boxing fans. if he shows sign of slowing down he can forget about it.

Let's wait and see how Marquez does against Katsidis before making any assumptions about a Pacquiao fight. Not only may Marquez not look very good since he is getting a little long in the tooth and Pacquiao is peeking right now. If Marquez looks spectacular then I say make the fight. But if Marquez looks sluggish, slow, etc and/or loses this next fight, the whole point becomes moot. And, with the passing of Katsidis' brother, you know Katsidis will be more than inspired to try and win this fight...

The logical response to this comment is if this is the case, why is Roach yappin' about him only wanting JMM at 140 and Pac saying he doesn't want him period?
