How the **** does Floyd gets even half those votes? I like the man, but for **** sakes - the yellow midget has a much better resume, Probably will go down as Top 10 (ATG) and is a better fighter

as of right now manny is a top 10 - top 5 ATG according to some

it's about his abilities to move around in the divisions, not neccessarily dominance over one division (though he was the FW kingpin in a fantastic FW era [one loss to morales and victories over the rest of the crew])

floyd is one of the best defensive fighters of all time

but he's not anywhere near pacquiao, leonard, duran, pep, robinson, greb, armstrong, louis, ali, etc.

pacquiao is a truely great fighter. he will scrap with ANYBODY, he's always improving, he can fight, box, punch, is durable...
the dude started his career weighing less than 100 lbs according to the pacman

and he just DOMINATED a truely gigantic WW with power and strength

when floyd gets a chance to make a monster name for himself and impove his ATG standing (by fighting a smaller guy with a style that's made for him in pacquiao)
        and doesnt take the fight....
        he loses stock

if you're litterally trying to get jailed to avoid a fight
        you arent an ATG fighter

Beat them "better"?? What is that? A win is a win right? Because Mayweather uses his ring IQ to figure them out, break them down and not take much punishment, that means Pac beat them "better". I would love to be able to move forward in time 40-50yrs, and see what kind of condition both are i. Then ask Pac if it was worth it to beat them, what you considered "better".

Floyd would carve Margarito up and take A LOT less punishment than pac did. Not floyd fault that hatton learned to walk into punches with his hands down.

i agree with this, the only problem is i (and this is just a matter of preference i guess) wanna see some offense. i dont mean to sound like i cant appreciate the defensive brilliance floyd brings, nor do i mean to make it sound like the guy has 0 offense because his 25kos didnt stop themselves, but there's just something that tips the scales for me towards the offensive brilliance that is pac. im just a huge fan of the tysons/pacs/jacksons/maidanas/valeros(boxing ring only) of the world who really do try not to get hit but dont really care too much cause they going to hit you harder and more often...and i think at the end of the day that may be all it comes down to for me....exciting fighters who try to win by KO's. IMO of course.

*quick side note, manny did NOT jump eight divisions, he FOUGHT at eight divisions. pac still weighed in at 144lbs for the cheato fight....im just saying.

Floyd will always be remembered of what could of been. So much talent, yet he was sold to the check cashing business. He has no interest in building his legacy, but simply making money. He'll always be known as the talented ****y guy who ran the early 2000's then broke down after he got his big paychecks.

Pacquiao will always be remembered as a speed demon who refused to test himself when the big paydays came. He'll be known for ducking the top guys in the later part of his career just to make a quick buck, but of course he's a humble guy so people will ignore this fact and just call him an ATG.

            Just my opinion.

That's human instinct. We want to see someone go for blood. Fight hard, hit hard, give and take punishment and get the KO. It brings drama and excitement, so I can't argue with u at all. I love watching those guys as well. It's just a lot more fun to watch that type of fighter. But, saying that, it still can't be denied that boxing is a sport of hitting and not getting hit. Although we love to see those kind of fights and fighters, if you look at the in the future, many of them wish that that they never were that kind of fighter. After we have gotten our excitement out of them, they move on w/their lives and have to live with the problems that come with fighting like that. Those fights are a distant memory for us, while they live with the consequences everyday. So, I am not gonna knock any fighter who is brilliant with defense and still dominates 90% of the fighters he's fought.

The genius of FMJ is that, he can be such a defensive fighter(more of a boring style) and still get be the PPV king. That is where the "Money" Mayweather persona came in. I think he knew that he couldn't be that kind of fighter without some kind of gimmick to become loved by the "traditional boxing fan" but still have the masses hate him and want to see him lose. America has come a long way when it comes to race, but even now many people do not want to see a rich black man bragging, being flashy, throwing money, being obnoxious and then backing it up. They don't want to see anyone for that matter, but I think, especially a black man(I said SOME people). The problem is, this persona is now coming back to bite him in his ass. If u brag like that, you should be backing it up & if u say things like "Pac is an easy fight", then people are gonna call you on it when you ask for drug tests, even if you really do think he is using something.

The irony about all of this is, whether Manny has been using something or not, many(most?) think he beats him regardless. I think FMJ's ego has gotten too large(also think Pac's has as well). They both should just sit down make some concessions, shut the **** up and fight. Then we will see who would be knows as the better fighter. Both tried to do this at least once, in my opinion. Floyd in the first negotiations, Pac in the second(i think if a person is being impartial, they will see that). I hope that FMJ is just waiting to see what happens with his court cases to sit down for a 3rd, because I want to see this fight.

I commend you. A very impartial way of looking at things. We need more posts here like this.
