After watching Vargas' fight with Castillejo, I don't think that Fernando would be able to deal with Mayorga. It's true that Mayorga's punch at 154 is not as deadly as it was at 147, but still it is more explosive than Vargas' power. Another thing is that Fernando is using the Mayweather defense but he is not a master yet and he is getting hit regularly. If Castillejo's slow punches got to him, chances are that Mayorga's wild swings will too. This spells trouble for Vargas. I must also say that I was a big fan of the old Vargas, but this new version of him is kind of boring. Not because he is boxing more, but because he does not throw many punches anymore. He is way too hesitant and sometimes allows his opponent to take the initiative. Only time will tell if Vargas can make the adjustments to become a major player again and deal with the most entertaining fighter in the business today, Ricardo Mayorga.
I make a little come back to discuss Vargas-Mayorga.
