Good read, glad you got to take see it in person.

What was your take on the Erdei fight?

Erdei didn't look too rusty for a guy who'd been off a year. Granted, I'm not overly familiar with his past work.

Worked behind a jab. Made Onyango try to figure out the puzzle, which in turn opened Onyango up for good Erdei counters. Erdei opened up with more and more combinations as the fight went on.

Maybe one more fight to get rid of the rust, and then why not Tavoris Cloud? Or the winner of Pascal-Hopkins if Chad Dawson chooses against a rematch?

i just found it hilarious that the ref actualy counted all the way up to ten, paul was clearly sleep before he hit the floor, and didnt even budge while on the canvas.. sergio should clean up 154 and 160 before moving up.. 154 has alot of good fighters.. pirog is good but doesnt realy deserve i title shot yet, sturm would be a good match if sturm has a belt..a real belt

Thanks for the details. Haven't found a decent recap of the fight yet. All I read was that he was rusty and there were some loud Hungarians there.

Erdei should be well positioned for a title shot, he was highly ranked by the WBC before his layoff and the only guy ranked ahead of him at the time (Cleverly) had made clear his intentions to fight for a different belt.

This is good for Latin American fighters because if they are unknown in the U.S., people always say they fight bums, and are hype jobs. Many Mexicans, Central and South Americans, are good but since they are not known in the US, they say they fight bums. That happened to JC Chavez, Sr. People were aying he had many wins cause he fought bums yet he proved he was great.

That KO shocked everyone!! I wonder, ¿Why the hell the ref even bothered to count!? Looking at the way Williams fell(face 1st to the canvas with the 7 mile stare) there was NO WAY he was getting up!!! & by the time the ref reached 7, the Doctors were already in the ring fast pacing towards Williams & Martinez & his people were celebrating!!! It seems like EVERYONE EXCEPT THE REF knew the fight was over!!

                    Wow.

I liked Sergio before but P.Will is my boy and ive still got the image of him falling out of nowhere after what sounded like a gunshot burned into my mind. I dont think ill ever forget it.

I was watching on sopcast (we dont get all fights in New Zealand) and my roommate thought something was seriously wrong when she heard me yell in part panic/shock/disbelief/awe/concern/worry and rushed to check me out. All i could do was point at the screen and mouth unintelligible utterings.

                    Wow. Well done Mr Martinez.

                    Long live the Punisher

ps. Manny Pacquiao didnt KO Ricky Hatton with one punch. Hatton was already rocked hard by two knockdowns in the first round.

I seen the Zsolt Erdei fight & even thou I've never heard or seen his opponent(Samson Onyango)& by looking at the African's record knew he was soft opposition for the Hungarian, for Erdei being out for a year didn't seem show any ring rust & actually displayed some good boxing skills..Not a lot of power thou..
