his defense is still atrocious compared to his. It's kind of weird isn't it? And that makes me think of another guy too. Calzaghe. Martinez fights kind of like that without the slaps. And Calzaghe got hit a lot less than Williams. You think it's based on speed and reflexes and Williams simply don't have that kind of coordination that these guys do? Don't get me wrong, Williams still has an open defense. But he doesn't purposely fight with his hands down like those two guys do. Lol.

plus like you said he doesnt have the natural athleticism or speed with his reflexes as they do.

most of all he leads with his face which is a no no in boxing. or so iv been told.

You only have to look at some of the great fighters in the past that relied on reflexes, and it's clear Martinez is no different either. Martinez is always on his toes, he's got good upper body momvement too. Paul is pretty stiff, that's how he was caught cold, he doesn't move.

It's athleticism and an astute spatial awareness.

paul lacks footwork, he looks like a giraffe on skates
the guy is slow, thats why he cant use his reach properly

he keeps his hands up in an almost symbolic manner, like he knows hes supposed to but doesnt know why

baldomir hit him with a similar hook you could see coming from a mile away but with nowhere near the power of martinez

williams doesnt seem to be able to dazzle small opponents with his 82" reach anymore but doesnt really have the technical skill to move up several divisions and lose his biggest advantage either
