I mean how we forget just last year Sergio Martinez was very little known. Then comes his fight with Williams last year and he puts on a great show. Then now he fights again twice this year and puts on a show and now he's one of the hottest boxers in the community and is now well known to casuals because of this KO.

I find it hilarious when MMA fans say boxing doesn't have any stars in the future! You can become a star in no more than a year and Sergio Martinez proved this!! This dude is SENSATIONAL and I want to see this man fight again!

Yeah he took the late notice fight vs Williams last year and it really payed off, then when Williams refused to fight Pavlik he stepped in again. Its funny how it worked out to where now hes a pretty damn big star and MW champ.

Maybe he will go on Dancing With the Stars next

15 years in the making but what I'm trying to say that in little over a year he went from being unknown fighter with no following to boxings hottest boxer!!! Throw out the Pacquiao/Mayweather hype this is great for boxing!!! We as boxing fans should be prooud of Martinez for putting boxing on the map with this type of performance. He gained tons of fans just from the ESPN SPORTSCENTER highlight alon!

Martinez was the type of boxer who was slept on for the best part of their careers. He's always been exciting to watch but never got the respect he deserved up untill now. I think it's clear Martinez is a world class boxer at this point, he destroyed supposely 'the most avoided man in boxing', Period. Who wouldn't be a fan?

He just won a big fight on HBO so you would think that. The 15 years of hard work and commitment that got him here is easily forgotten. It isn't easy to become a star.

I think his stardom will be short-lived unfortunately. Just two or three more fights.

It's incredibly difficult to become a big star in boxing.
