Lets break down the term "Latin America"

Latin = Language originating in southern Europe. "Latin" People are Italians, Spaniards, French, etc.

North and South America = continents.

When Latin Europeans became culturally dominant in the Americas below the United States, it became referred to as "Latin America" because Latin languages became the most spoken.

"Latino" has nothing to do with race. There are pure white Latinos as well as pure native latinos and pure African latinos. There are Latinos who are a mixture of 2, and a mixture of all 3.
