every black guy in the HW division sucks ass. they're terrible. they can't even give Wlad or Vitaly any trouble. The klits just beat them up like ****in scrubs. as a black guy, I'm embarassed at the scrubs we put in the ring.
At Cruiserweight, it's hard to even come up with a really good African American boxer.
At Lt. HW you got Dawson who looked like garbage fighting Pascal. Yeah, dawson has that AA style, but the thing is, that AA style doesn't beat every style. Pascal ain't AA either, he's Canadian, and he's could beat up another guy with AA style: mr. hopkins himself.
At 168 lbs... there's only 2 guys of note there: Glen Johnson and Andre Ward. But guess what, Johnson isn't AA, he's haitian. And personally, I think Johnson outworks Ward. Don't even mention Andre Dirrell. He fights in the AA stylel and is a *****.
at 160 lbs, there's nobody right now except pwill, but pwill isn't even a slick AA fighter. he doesn't fight in the AA style.
at 154 lbs, the best AA fighter there is probably Kirkland, but kirkland doesn't fight in the AA style and who knows what's gonna happen with him.
at 147 lbs, we only have 2 good AA fighters. Wifebeater Jr, the quintessential AA fighter. without wifebeater, we ain't got *****. and also we have the much more underwelming Berto, who grew up in the States, but is really haitian.
at 140 lbs, there's only 2 really good AA fighters, Bradley and Alexander, but some people had Devon losing to Kotelnik. And you gotta admit Khan may not be ranked #1, but those match ups favor Khan because khan beat up kotelnik, and Bradley is featherfisted.
at 135 lbs, there's nobody of note.
at 126 lbs, there's nobody that comes to mind.
at 122 lbs and under... all ricans, mexicans, pinoys, and south americans....
We African Americans gotta admit that our dominance of boxing is waning. We only have 1 guy left, Wifebeater Jr that we can look to and say, we own boxing. Without Wifebeater, we are assed out. Even pwill doesn't fight in that slick AA style.
It's not that AAs suck at boxing... its just that our best athletes are choosing a diffrent sport.
you can't just pick any AA off the street and think he's gonna beat the Klits. You can't just get an former AA basketball player or football player and think he's gonna beat the Klits.
Sorry my fellow African Americans... we had a good run, just like the Italians had a good run, just like teh ***s had a good run, etc... but it's time to put to rest this notion that the slick African American boxer is the epitome, the apex of boxing. I know it hurts, but some of us need to get over it.
I watch boxing because I love the sport, not because I'm rooting for someone of my race. do I wanna see them succeed? hell yeah. But if blacks quit boxing, I'd still watch boxing cause I love the sport. I think those of us who can't accept this need to pick another sport to follow cause there aren't many great black fighters left or many great black fighters coming along.
