  • Anyone hear HBO point out Pacquiao fights fighters when they are past prime?

I said asked you all this a long time ago. Some people said good observation others said it was b.s, just hate.

Out of his last lets say 6-7 big ppv fights which of these fighters would you say were still in their physical prime?

Antonio Margarito, Miguel Cotto, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Erik Morales.

I would say Marquez in the rematch was still in his physical prime and Morales even after being in tough fights still had a good amount left.

Of these two fights you could argue Marquez won the rematch and we all saw Morales beat Pacquiao in a clear decision.

So where does that leave Margarito? This happened after the hand wrap controversy and the beating by Shane Mosley.

He fought Cotto after coming off that hellacious beating by Margarito

Ricky Hatton was damaged goods after the Mayweather fight. His life has spiraled out of control.

De La Hoya, shot, past prime, and weight drained.

all of that may be true but the important things that make manny
so special is that he EXCEEDS our expectations...that's what is making
        him seem so invincible...

we picked him to beat hatton, maybe cotto, margarito and clottey

the thing that makes his victories so special is THE WAY he did it

he ran through all of them, he took out 90% of the toughest/best
welterweights like they were nothing in back to back to back fights

past prime, coming of defeats, weight drained....that may all be true
but the fact of the matter is while we expect manny to win, he takes it to
        another level

who predicted he would handle cotto clottey hatton margarito SO EASILY...

that's what makes manny special, the ease of how he is doing it

The thing is, all these guys were prime like 5 years ago. It's like if a guy loses one fight, he is shot and past prime. They are the BIGGEST NAMES out there that can bring in the money.

I can't see why it's so hard to rationalize the idea that in order to guarantee a boxer a 15 million dollar payday, he needs to fight someone with fans that can bring in the money to pay the 15 million dollars. These undefeated guys coming u have like 5,000 fans in the entire world and they can't even fill the local flea market much less the MGM.

So who is Pac to fight then? Look at his resume and tell me that the names on there don't pop out at you. I understand the argument but the reality is he has few choices to fight. Same thing with Floyd, he made himsef a boxing star so to speak, so the fans won't accept him fighting a relative rookie just because that guy is in his prime. Plus, Floyd wants to make 20 million for the fight too, how's that supposed to happen when his opponent has no fans?

No matter how much you take the mickey out of Pac, it is much easier to do it with floyd.

hatton was coming off his best ever performance, just because a boxer loses does not mean they are finished

Cotto was in his best shape

Margo was near if not at his best, the fight showed this, his conditioning was excellent

marquez and morales (2nd) were near their best as well

clottey again the same as the above

why do people always and I mean always have to discredit a fighters win?

I agree they were pretty much all past prime except Clottey.. who was never any good...

That being said not many fighters have other top fighters on there resume who were in there primes.. Ali? yeah he does but not many others do

Out of all his big wins the only one i give him full credit for is the first barrera fight. I hate when people say he fights for legacy. No he doesn't just like other fighters he fights for money he just makes you think he fights for his legacy.
