Strange: Wouldn't ARUM be vocal and bragging about 1.5 Million PPV buys? Hmmm, odd.

It has been a week and I have not seen any statements from Arum about how happy he is with the 1.5 million PPV buys.

This is great news for Manny and great news for the sport. Why isn't Arum talking about the great ppv buyrate of 1.5 million ppv's? Neither is Roach?

Bob seems awfully quiet about the biggest-selling fight of the year. And the 2nd biggest non-heavyweight fight ever. Weird.

NOT referring to statements from before the fight.... but statements after numbers came in. Something like this:

Arum now confident that Cotto-Pacquiao could reach 1.5 million buys

by Scott Christ on Nov 18, 2009* 3:36 AM EST in Boxing News Analysis

*The fight was on Nov 14, 2009

Manny Pacquiao and Bob Arum will have plenty to celebrate with their latest PPV success. Early indicators have the fight between 1 and 1.5 million buys.

Ronnie Nathanielsz reports that promoter Bob Arum is confident that the Saturday mega fight between Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao may have done upwards of 1.5 million buys on pay-per-view, and that 1 million is almost a certainty.

Arum said he had "pretty much the final numbers" for Puerto Rico alone which he said "set a record" by surpassing the previous record of 80,000 for the Felix "Tito" Trinidad – Oscar De La Hoya fight. Arum said the Pacquiao-Cotto fight did a little bit more than 110,000.

Stating it was only a guess, Arum figured the fight would do around 1.3 million although he said there were no numbers from New York, Pennsylvania which are big points, adding that he didn’t even have any California numbers although he had the figures for San Diego and Hawaii "which were good numbers."

    ...

Arum recalled that the Pacquiao-De La Hoya fight last December did 1.25 million and in the East "so far we are doing 40 percent better and in the West we are doing about 10 percent less."

The astute Top Rank promoter said "we are happy because we did well over a million homes and I think it will be closer to 1.5 million."

Everyone knows that the number is around or higher than a million buys by now. Whats the point in making an official press conference about it?

        We get it.

        Pacquiao can draw.

Why do you care so much? How much of the PPV revenue are you getting?

if ppv buy sell number was not on boxing topic then why is it on every news paper and why do they release number.

the **** is a parekoy? It's a simple question- why do you care so much? It's great for boxing if fights do big numbers... so why are you concerned so much about the particular #?

HBO will release the official tallies in a few days. Till then, chill out with the pointless threads. You're not getting a dime from the PPV revenues, so leave it alone and worry about something else.
