38-0 (with one draw)...72-1...32-0...36-0...62-2 (with 2 draws)...and 31-2...that's 271-5 (with 3 draws) in all!!!!...Boxing Fans, what do these magnificent numbers represent???????

(answer) those are the records at the time he defeated them of the six men Sugar Ray Leonard defeated for his world titles...Benitez (WBC 147), Duran (WBC 147), Hearns (WBA-WBC 147), Kalule (WBA 154), Hagler (Undisputed 160) and LaLonde (WBC 168)

    Benitez 38-0
    Duran 72-1
    Hearns 32-0
    Kalule 36-0
    Hagler 62-2
    LaLonde 31-2

I think he's just pointing out that the quality of SRL's opponents was astronomical.

Great post. "Sugar" Ray Leonard undoubtly came out the overall victor in terms of the the legacy race between he and Duran, Hearns and Hagler. I like all four men, but it's just hard to dispute. A victory over all three of them, a better overall record/resume. Just, hard to argue.

Sugar was the last great MEDIA star...Tyson was, yeah, but wasnt ingratiated to the fans like Ray was...Ray was a SUPERSTAR and a great fighter...tough as nails, too, people forget that aspect of his game...

Ray Leonard was a bulldog-your right people often times think of Leonard as a shoe shiner or cutie pie but the guy was a true bulldog in the ring.
