    Cotto vs Margarito

After the recent beatings Marg received from Pacquiao, and Cotto’s fresh victory against Yuri, who do you think will win if they fight again at 154?

Can we all agree to make intelligent exchanges for this topic? No trash talking the fighters and no hurling of insults against any poster, pls.

Pacquiao survived Margarito because of his excellent footwork, I doubt Cotto can match that.

I think that in terms of unpredictability and sellability, Mosley vs Margo would be a better fight.

...and his power; Manny did bad things to Margo in there. Tony ate all of Cotto's shots like they were jelly beans. Manny hurt Tony in there and busted his face up something special. Miguel does not have the weapons Manny Pacquiao has.

keep these cotto-margarito threads coming ....

I think it will be as good as the first, cotto learning from first fight mistakes and take this to a wide UD ...

I honestly don't see it that way.

Cotto fresh from a win against Yuri might be on a high morale plane. I am not sure though if this is enough to get his confidence back to win a fight against margarito. Cotto was basically doing alright in the first 5 rounds of his fight against tony, until his tank got depleted. Against Pac, he got on his bike starting in the 8th round after realizing he can’t take Pac punches. Marg also realized he can’t reach Pac because of the latter’s speed; furthermore, he was constantly eating leather and yet he kept on coming.

Considering all these, I don’t think Cotto has what it takes to beat Margarito. The scenario will be the same as their first fight. He will be persistently pressured. Cotto will win the first 6 rounds and will run out of gas in the latter part of the fight. Margo just like what he did in the Pac fight will relentlessly pummel Cotto but the difference here is he will be able to connect.

Margo by late stoppage or UD. IMO

I hate to say it, but I think Margarito wins again.

Cotto is the more talented boxer by far and he proved that in the first 6 rounds of their first fight, but Margarito just has that style to beat him.

Not only does Cotto not have Manny's footspeed and power, but he also doesn't have Manny's stamina or durability, which also happen to be Margarito's biggest strengths, even nowadays.

In all honesty, Miguel Cotto is my fav fighter. I'm from Puerto Rico and will die defending my people. After the Margarito fight, Cotto hasn't been the same! I'm so tired of the cheating talk too, (even though there's no one that will convince me other wise that Margarito didn't have bricks against Cotto) Even though Cotto is not the same after Marga, he will outbox Margarito any day of the week. I think that what has Margarito boxing and getting good fights still is his will to keep fighting in the ring and not quit, in my opinion he is a mediocre boxer. Can he punch and hit to the body? Yes he can and very well, but defense is terrible and overall boxing ability is mediocre. All that beeing said, Cotto takes the fight by points second time around.
