rafa marquez is mexican and he quits against juan ma
barrera's corner stops the fight when he was pummeled by manny.
there is notting wrong with that. life is so precious and we only have 1 life.
Marquez quite cause of injury, the corner throwing in the towel isn't quiting.
LOL at ronnie. he got mad at the ref cuz his prediction was wrong cuz of him. “I kept predicting that the fight would be over around the 7th round. The cuts came up so badly, the referee should have stopped the fight. I was wrong because of the idiot,” http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/11...pacquiao-match
For me, the ref did the right thing because margarito kept coming and throwing punches. this is boxing. if anyone was to be blamed, then that is margarito's corner for not thinking about their fighter's health. one of the worst corner of all time!
Putting the Mexican pride aside, the last thing the sport needs is another death or near death. If Margarito suffered such a fate in this high profile fight, you could kiss the sport goodbye. If Margarito or his team were not willing to say enough is enough, then the fail safe should have been the Ref and Texas commission.
They all failed us and tony. The simple fact is that Margarito took a ton of unnecessary punishment for absolutely nothing. We all knew after the 10th round that he was done. It was over. Fighters that die in the ring generally are not knocked out. They usually finish the fight then collapse later on. This happens when a fighter is so weary and exhausted late in a fight that they just cannot get out of way of the opponents fists.
Garcia's been saying in the post fight that he wanted to stop it, it was only Margarito whose not agreeable. Both we could hear in the background during breaks in the last rounds that he wanted Margarito to go for broke. Scumbag.
Cole is just a horrible ref in general, and Garcia was looking out for number one-himself. If Margarito came back and caught Pac with a haymaker, his stock would rise.
I agree he's horrible based on his past mistakes...but not this one. You can't stop a fight if the opponent is still punching back.

Kellerman asked Garcia point blank "did you ever consider stopping the fight?", and Garcia said "no, absolutely not".
Based on that answer, I seriously have to question his credentials as a top trainer. He should have stopped it after 9 or 10.........

I think he said that to defend his boxer. If he said, "yeah I thought about it as my man was getting his head beaten in" Margarito would have turned around and probably hit him.
He always has to be seen to have confidence in his fighter.
Realistically though the ref or the physician should have stopped it
You think Mexican fighters have guts? Shiiiiit, Mexican trainers are the bravest, most ferocious, most fearless, most determined NEVER-say-die sum*****es with the highest pain threshold in the world!!!! So sad. What are we gonna do?
