Robert Diaz, matchmaker for Golden Boy Promotions, reached out to BoxingScene.com to set the record straight on the widespread story which claimed Diaz had approached Ricky Hatton with an offer to fight Oscar De La Hoya. According to Diaz, not only is the story not true, but the statements, attributed to Diaz in the British press, were never made.

this is how GBP promotes a fight. they spread rumors about a fight happening to test the waters for a postitive or negative reaction.

Good! isn't true! Otherwise this is a Big Joke!

Two boxing stars who suffered an astonishing defeats from the hands of Pac in different fashions, who both plunged themselves of boxing inactivity for years from desperations and accumulating fats in the process, then all of a sudden they will be raising from the graves and will face each other? for what? to become a suspertstar again??? what an absurd idea! If they want resurrection of their carrers, they should fight a decent underdogs first and then slowly climbing the ladder to find their stardom back.

Oscar was hoping this would generate enough interest so he could make a comeback. When you announce retirement the first time around, it's over and you are no longer the star

I'm actually dissapointed. I wanted to see this fight. I don't care if both of them are shot by now and have been incactive for 2 years. It would have been an entertaining fight between two of the biggest names in boxing.
