Funny, i use to respect him, but the more you learn more about him and see who he truly is. I read his book and he made stereotypical comments about people of PR. His dream is to have boxing under one promotional company as MMA. This way he can consolidate all the fighters and revenues.
Golden Boy tried to say that they are different from don king and top rank, but they use the same tatics.
I got his book for like $6 on the bargin bin. Worse boxing book i read, jumps from place to place, no sense of continuity. He even talks about the issue of immigration, he is not politican, stick to boxing.Comment

Oscar quit because he actually needs his braincells. And Margarito, the great welterweight, lost to a much smaller ex-bantamweight without his lucky gloves. Oscar de la hoya is just jealous becuase hard core mexican fans didn't give a crap when he fought he mostly drew in the ladies to his events and not fights becuase he picked on an older version of julio cesar chavez and ran from the biggest fight of his life which was a rematch with felix tito trinidad.So i dont know where oscar gets the nerve to act like if he was some mexican warrior inside the ring becuase at best he was good but not great and didn't have that much of a true warriors fighting spirit inside the ring.Comment

Even in this thread, people are like "I can't believe that is Oscar." But, it is really him. The more you hear the man, that book, if you see him when the camera are not around, you see that he is really a douche. He uses a lot of contradiction. And, dude is not what he is portrayed by the media.
And, as a fighter, he was good, fought a lot of names, made a lot of money and sold a lot of PPV's. But, he was no ATG.... He just wasn't IMO... A sure HOF'er but not an ATG.
And, for him to talk about Margarito after ducking him and choosing to cherry pick, cuz that is what he was doing, cherry picking and it backed fired on his ass. He quit like a punk... Marg went out like a warrior but this Golden Boy went out like a punk... No room for him to talk...
No doubt he was smart with his money and made a brand. But, that was cuz he was smart enough to have the right people with him. But, in general he really is not that bright. And, the more he opens his mouth the more you can tell that he is kind of a dumbass.
