    so pac/clottey outsold pac/hydroxyrito?

    ticket sales that is...

Manny Pacquiao used both speed and power in a dominating performance Saturday night to beat Antonio Margarito and win their 150-pound showdown.

In a spectacular performance before a delighted crowd of 41,734 at Cowboys Stadium, Pacquiao cemented his claim to being the best fighter in the world by dominating the bigger but slower Margarito almost from the opening bell.
didn't pac/clottey sell 50,000 tickets? anyone else surprised?

Wow, I hadn't heard that. WTF is up with that? We hear Manny's popularity is as high as ever and ten thousand fewer people came to this fight? Wow. I wonder if that same number will be reflected in the number of PPV buys.

The Pac/Clottey #s were grossly exaggerated. From the post fight tax records of the Texas Boxing Regulation, the numbers of bought tickets was a bit over 36,000 and then they gave away another 5,000.

Again, according to Arum the Clottey fight sold 38k but they gave away the rest of the tix. For this one, he thinks the economic times have caught Dallas.

David P. Greisman, in his regular column here on BoxingScene, "Fighting Words", has corrected attendance figures for Pacquiao-Clottey frequently cited in various articles. He said, Pacquiao's maiden appearance at Cowboy Stadium was not actually 51,000 but 41,841, broken down as follows:

                  Tickets sold- 36,371
Free passes (Non-Revenue Tickets or tickets given away as freebies)- 5,500, more or less, probably a bit less.

Here's a link to Greisman's column of November 15,2010, in which he compared attendance figures of Pacquiao's two fights at Cowboy Stadium (please go to the section, "The Ten Count", towards the end of the article).
