If he were such a true sportsman, he wouldn't have taken the fight in the first place when there are better fighters wanting to fight him, and the demand for those fights is greater. Lets get this straight - NOBODY WANTED TO SEE THIS FIGHT.
A true sportsman is somebody like Oscar. Somebody who was "the man," "the golden boy." A man who needed nobody because he was the man to beat and he ALWAYS fought the toughest fights, and the most in demand fights. He never told Shane Mosley to wait so he could go after old washed up guys who were terrible style matchups. He fought The Mosleys, The Trinidad's, the Vargas', and every other top fighter of the time who was at the top of their game and was a LEGITIMATE title holder in the weight classes in which he was the champion, unlike Manny.
Pacquiao is a "true sportsman" because he showed some humanity in the last round against a guy who he shouldn't even have fought in the first place? Give me a break, man. You hear those idiot boxing announcers say something and you regurgitate it like it's bible which is typical of a textbook *******.
This fight should have every boxing fan in an uproar, instead every idiot who's followed the sport for the last 5 years thinks he's an ATG and is comparing him to Armstrong and SRR because an idiot like Max Kellerman said it before the fight.
Who is Josh Clottey? Who is Antonio Margarito? They are nobody's. The difference between guys like Manny and other ATG's, is you can look at what they did to fighters, then analyze what those fighters did AFTER the fact.
Here are some facts about Manny's latest Victims. Ricky Hatton has done nothing. Joshua Clottey has done nothing and will most likely not fight again. Oscar was way past it and in the worst fight shape of his entire wonderful career, and has not and will not fight again. Margarito is at the end of his career, and probably will not fight anymore. It's like these people that were names in the boxing world a few years ago come out of nowhere and get destroyed by Manny and now he's some kind of god, when that is simply not the case. His level of competition is GARBAGE. It's like repeating first grade over and over as an adult and acing every assignment and claiming greatness. It's time to step up to the second grade, son.
What these fighters do (Hatton, Clottey, Marg) after this will tell exactly where they were in their career when they were fed to prime Manny, and Manny isn't even dismantling these guys the way he should be.
When Tyson knocked out Holmes everybody said it was because he was past prime. Let me point out one thing. Tyson dominated him every round before brutally knocking him out after dishing Holmes the most one sided brutal beating of his entire career. He then went on to win his next 6 fights, including a victory over an undefeated RAY MERCER and then earning a title fight with Evander Holyfield in which he lost in a DECISION. He then went on to win 15 of his next 17 fights over the next 10 years and earned himself another 2 titles shots, which he lost both in a decision, meaning in 88 when he fought Tyson he wasn't as far past it as people thought. That was the only KO loss of Larry's entire career.
This is not the case with Manny - these are guys who are totally washed up and done and the in the future we will not see them do anything, and that will solidify what I have claimed here today - they are not competitive contenders and that takes away greatly from the victory making it a worthless piece of is legacy - his resume isn't any better than it was after he beat Cotto, it's still in the same standing.
