There will be controversy tommorrow night. Something will go wrong with this ****ing IDIOT in the ring. I have never seen a laurence cole fight where something didnt go wrong. Mark my words.
1. In this video, Laurence Cole, rules a Knockdown on Dirrell as a *SLIP* because he was in the southpaw stance. Horrible call. Clearly a Knockdown.
2. In this fight, with Juan Manuel Marquez, Laurence Cole actually tells JMM he is ahead on the scorecards (WTF?!?!?!) and says he can stop it.
3. Cole owns a Dallas insurance agency and, among his clients who obtain insurance for their respective boxing, MMA and kickboxing events, is the Mexico City based WBC.
See Q & A with Cole as he discusses his checkered career.
Sulaiman makes no effort to hide the business relationship as seen in this blurb from the Cole agency's website:
"The World Boxing Council was the first boxing organization to introduce life and medical insurance for boxing. For 11 years Laurence Cole Insurance Agency has provided our life and medical coverage for all WBC World Title Fights as well as Affiliate Championships all over the world. The quality of their service has been outstanding, and without doubt we will recommend this company to anyone looking for an efficient and easy to work with insurance provider."
Some have labeled Cole's insuring events in which he participates creates a conflict of interest.
4. OK so here are some of the muggings...I mean "fights" Laurence Cole has been a part of
1. JMM vs Jaca - He tells JMM he's up on the cards if he doesn't feel like he wants to continue
2. Malinaggi-Diaz 1 - Cole said the cut to Diaz was 1st caused by a punch and then widened by a clash of heads and I believe if I'm not mistaken he ruled it a clash of heads but Hell it's Texas and Juan ****ing Diaz it may as well have been caused by the Tooth Fairy
3. Juarez-John
4. Pacquiao-MAB 1 - Cole rules a legit knockdown of MAB as a slip
5. Abraham-Dirrell - He missed 2 knockdowns 1 for AA 1 for Dirrell (when AA got knocked into the ropes which held him up) and when AA had Dirrell on the ropes for no reason Cole broke them up and moved the fight back to the center of the ring
6. Camacho Jr.-Yuri Boy Campas - Larry did NOT DQ Hector Jr. in just a God awful display of fighting
