Vargas-Castillejo a 10 rounder!

De La Hoya-Vargas II on the horizon if Vargas gets by Castillejo!
August 16, 2005 - On Saturday night, former two time junior middleweight champion Fernando Vargas will face Javier Castillejo in a ten round junior middleweight contest, not a twelve round championship eliminator to become mandatory challenger to newly crowned WBC champion Ricardo Mayorga. According to sources from Team vargas, the pride of Oxnard, California has no interest in challenging Mayorga because if he manages to get by Castillejo, a lucrative rematch with long-time rival Oscar De La Hoya is expected to come to fruition rather quickly. De La Hoya knocked Vargas out in a very entertaining fight back in September 2002. After the fight, Vargas tested positive for steroids and received a six month suspension. Many will wonder why this fight should happen when Vargas couldn't best De La Hoya on performance enhancing steroids, however, the fact remains De La Hoya-Vargas II on Cinco De Mayo weekend would generate HUGE money. REMEMBER WHERE YOU HEARD IT FIRST! (8:15 PM ET)

****ty move on Vargas's part...So let me get this straight. Vargas fights in August and takes off another extended period to get his ass handed to him?
Why not defeat Castillejo and then fight Mayorga in the winter and then if he wins go on to fight DLH...A fight that would be worthy?
Vargas is done and is just looking for that big payday before he rides his burrito into the sunset.
I hope Castillejo hands him his rusty ass.
