Hopefully Burns makes a few defences for Scottish boxing man .He's beat the best at 130 man so hat off to him .He's got heart and a decent chin man because Martinez's power .Martinez's got a good few ko's on his record man so hopefully he wasn't struggling rehydrating what he sad .Martinez wants a rematch man I read .I read a thread earlier .I think they have to fight there way into mandatory again. The first fight was quality anyway man .Another one like that man.
Does anybody here think Burns could beat the other titlists at 130lbs?
He beat Martinez convincingly and showed speed, accuracy, skill, a good chin, good heart and surprisingly a lot of power - he rocked Martinez a few times.
Looking at the division, it's not what it once was, the titlists aren't that impressive.
Solis - Interim WBA Champ - Experienced, has decent power.
Uchiyama - WBA Super Champ (I expect he and Solis are going to fight next year) - good KO ratio.
Fana - Won vacant IBF title, former IBF champ so he's experienced. Doesn't have much power, been KO'd before (by MAB though).
Tajbert - WBC Champ - featherfisted, very short (5ft 6) compared to Burns.
Burns has a real size advantage over the others, he's 5ft10, has decent reach and I think he's a force in the division. I think in Scotland he could beat any of the above, away from home I'm not sure, he'll probably lose to Uchiyama in Japan.
But next year I'd like to see some unification fights, Ricky's definitely got a chance to make a name for himself and build a legacy if he can clear up the division, and make some money for himself in the process. He's only 27 so he has his best years ahead of him.
