Could people just leave Tyson alone? ridiculous.

Mean't to talk about this yesterday, it was reported in the USA Today yesterday, here on foxsports.com, and im sure other places:

ROME (AP) - Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson was fined $300 for riding a jet ski too close to shore and without a helmet, police on the popular tourist island of Capri said Sunday.

Tyson, who reports have linked to misbehavior on various other islands up and down Italy's coast in the last week, entered within the safe distance of 500 meters from shore, said police marshall Capello Tramparulo.

The fine was paid by the captain of a boat Tyson has been traveling on, Tramparulo said.

The incident occurred Thursday at 1 p.m. - a time of day when Capri is filled with tourists having come over from nearby Naples or the Amalfi coast.

Police on the Italian island of Sardinia are also investigating Tyson after a woman claimed he kidnapped and attacked her Aug. 7 when she refused to have sex, London's Daily Mirror reported.

Now is it really neccessary that we know Tyson got a $300 dollar fine for riding a jet-ski? Honestly is there nothing else important to talk about in sports? It made the sports front page in USA Today yesterday. Plus, it again makes boxing look bad when that's the only thing they talk about. (USA Today) made no attempt to report any information on the Lacy/Reid fight. Not even some comments in the "other sports" section. Lol, they even reported the exact amount yesterday, like 300 something and 71 cents.

I just wish these major newspapers would at least 'try' to boost boxing's standings with fans. If the 'traditional fan' knew more about these good fights that have happened in the last couple of months and not so much the 'drama' before and after them, we might get more supporters of the sport.

People want to see the sport get better. Well publicists can start by posting the results of a good Friday Night Fights matchup or good news about a rematch between Morales/Pacman II coming up and hyping up their hype card before the rematch. Stuff like that.

See, EXACTLY. You think my local newspaper would report anything on boxing? Hell no! So it's really on the regional newspapers (USA Today, etc.) to deal out the most information on boxing, which their really starting to lack on. I understand most sports fans now get their information from the internet, but newspapers are a valuable resource too.

The only station that even tries to promote boxing is FSN, the guys on Best Damn Sports Show are trying damn hard to get some attention to the sport. They've been holding cards, having fighters on for interviews, talking about results and all that. I applaud them.

ESPN has Friday Night Fights, but they don't even talk about boxing on Sportscenter or anything. I swear, the first 30 minutes of Sportscenter now is filled with Yankee news and highlights, the rest with Red Sox news and highlights. It's a joke.
