Don't forget about Dirrell. He'll be a beast when he comes back from getting his brain fixed.

It's not just the heavyweight division, though that's what people talk about the most. It's everywhere in boxing; boxing as a sport is just becoming more and more irrelevant in American culture. After Floyd retires, they'll be no more great American fighters.

Andre Ward has potential for greatness, but that's all I see at the moment.

Bradley has a chance to be a very accomplished fighter, at the very least.

Both are my active favorites. Ward fights in 17 days, hopefully he pulls a surprise and stops Bika. That would make me happy.

We may not be killing it like we used to but we always have the most belts and if you listed the top 25 or so fighters in the world about half of them would be Americans. It used to be the best fights were American V American but now it has more evened out. Still, there is no country that can compete man to man to America. Keep your chin up, boxing is a global sport now.

floyd is the man in american boxing right now, but the heavyweights are what draws the most attention for boxing.

and americans can't relate to a trim, smaller fighter like floyd.

even though smaller fighters like oscar and floyd made a point that you don't have to be a heavyweight to sell the most ppvs.

but us yanks still want to see heavyweights, considering the average american is a heavyweight these days. lmaooooooooo!!!
I always thought that was the reason soccer never really goes mainstream in USA (except for World Cup). American's can't relate to thin, fit, soccer players.

Nope, what happens is they suck at football. The TS is a good example, he isn't interested in sports where americans aren't doing well.

Americans always blame their lack of boxing world champions on black athletes choosing to participate in other sports like the ball throwing thing, or the other ball throwing thing. The fact is, America's downfall in boxing perfectly coincided with the emergence of Eastern Europe and Russia as a global boxing force. It's not that America is producing less top boxers than they did before, rather, Eastern Europe and Russia are providing just as many if not more top boxers (with more aggressive and entertaining fighting styles). The Floyd Mayweatheresque style of defensive/counter boxing has turned many young would be fans away from the sport.

The (relative) American downfall in world boxing can be attributed to one main factor:

                      - The emergence of ex-soviet nations as a global boxing force in which America will struggle to compete with in the coming years.
