I realized that later as well. Good observation.

        10/31/2009 - HBO - Pacquiao-Cotto 24/7 Pt. 2 - 341,000

That's a perfect comparison because it broadcast literally at the same time last year. Looks like Pac's appearance on Kimmel and higher overall exposure in the media led to a massive jump in viewership from the second to the third episode this year, while last year the gain was more or less steady.

Pacquiao-Cotto did 1.25 mil buys, so this bodes VERY well for Pacquiao-Margarito...

Plus the numbers don't take into account people watching replays, catching it On-Demand, and youtube which makes a huge difference.
This shows it's on the right track with cotto. Better numbers even. This is promising indeed. If cotto did 1.25 this could go even higher.

the 1st 2 , if i remember correctly , don't think had boxing that night.
          Nope.

          11/7/2009 - HBO - Pacquiao-Cotto 24/7 Pt. 3 - 424,000
          11/7/2009 - HBO - Chad Dawson vs. Glenn Johnson - 774,000

          Compared to:

          11/6/2010 - HBO - Pacquiao-Margarito 24/7 Part 3 - 731,000
          11/6/2010 - HBO - Zab Judah vs Lucas Mathysse - 766,000

HBO After dark didn't have a major effect on Pacquiao-Cotto and it featured better fights and more recognizable stars (Angulo was on the card too).

that doesn't mean that it didn't effect it this time,if u look at the numbers for the pac-margarito and the bad card they are almost identical and not to mention that zab is more recognized than most boxers

If Chad and Glen Johnson along with Angulo had minimal effect on Pacquiao-Cotto at the same time last year, why would Zab Judah effect Pacquiao-Margarito s drastically? Your theory makes absolutely no sense.

Everyone was buzzing about Pacquiao's duet with Ferrell (show was last Monday) and the youtube video from the show had about 650,000 views by Friday. Manny was in CBS ads for his 60 minutes piece and was/is more in the mainstream eye the last few weeks and that reflected in the ratings for 24/7.

But if you want to think Zab taking on someone no one's ever heard of and Gurrero/Escobedo is the reason for the seismic shift, then go nuts.

Chavez always gets the numbers, one of the few boxing Journalist out there who actually goes out of his way to get the ratings, gate and purses.
