For the record, I do not personally think that this fight is fixed. But since there seems to be a lot of skepticism, I'll offer my own theory. Again, I don't actually believe this, but it is plausible.
Pacquiao will lose on Saturday. And I'll tell you why. There has been a lot of talk about the Pacman hanging up his gloves for good, and this time it's likely. Now being a congressman, Manny wants to devote his full attention to public service. And with the Mayweather negotiations (if they ever even existed) going nowhere, Manny will retire after this fight. Let's face it, he can't be both a good politician and a pro boxer. It's either or, and at this point he's accomplished his goals in the sport and wants to serve his country. That's why we're getting all these news about distractions and terrible training. It's not to hype the fight, but to excuse Pac's loss.
Of course, it can be argued - why would Manny intentionally lose before retiring? Why doesn't he just beat Antonio and retire? Simple, a retired Manny is no good to Bob Arum. Pacquiao is being used to propel Margarito back into the spotlight. With a win over the p4p best, Margarito has some very lucrative fights ahead of him. Not to mention the money that can be made betting on the wide underdog in the process.
Once again, this was just on my mind and decided to share it. I don't think Manny would ever throw a fight, but it is also silly to say that Margarito has no chance whatsoever. I guess what I was at least able to demonstrate is that either scenario (Pac win or lose) doesn't look bad for Arum. If Pac wins he'll milk him some more, if Marg wins, then he's got a new cash cow. General audiences will forget the whole hand wraps scandal if he soundly beats Pac.
First person to call me an idiot I'm gonna ask to read the disclaimer before opening his mouth.
