Elbows in boxing are hard to see because they can happen so quick in an exchange. Gamboa got hurt and KD by an elbow (I think against Ramirez) and I didn't even see it until the replay, before that it looked like a normal hook or an overhand.
The fact that Lopez never visibly shook Marquez tells me either it was because Marquez saw all his punches coming or because Vazquez really does punch harder. Even in the 4th fight, there was a moment when Izzy shook him up in an exchange in the 2nd.
In closing, he was the one that was in the ring, so STFU with your ****** little criticsims, as if it was you getting hit, as if it was you getting your head and neck pressed down on, as if it was you Lopez was fouling. Let the man speak his peace.
Lopez had already weathered the storm when Weeks deducted the point. Marquez even knew it, he had stepped off the gas cause he knew Lopez had recovered.
The "fouls" and point deduction were pathetic. Watching the fight live I thought they were justified. What Marquez was doing was no different than what Allan Green was doing in the opener. It's just that people love Glen Johnson and Rafa Marquez, so of course its different. Marquez would literally miss a punch and just duck his head into Lopez's stomach. Is Lopez supposed to just let him do that and than come up with an uppercut? Weeks was LITERALLY picking on Lopez.
And the shots to the back of the head were cuffed hooks that were a result of Marquez doing has patented head bend. No one to blame but himself for those.
I thought all the same things you did. I've now seen it several times and Marquez has nothing to complain about, he's one of my favorite fighters and I hate seeing him complain about nothing.
I do however think that if the shoulder injury is real, which I tend to think it is, the fight would have played out a lot differently if he wasn't hurt. He has the power to put Lopez to sleep.
But Lopez did shake Marquez up good at the end of the first round.

I'm sorry, but there is no doubt that Marquez's right shoulder was hurt going into the fight. You could tell after he wasn't throwing any right hand shots....which are essential to beating a southpaw. Even so, he was still able to rock Lopez and almost took him out with just his left.....which is pretty amazing.
Truthfully Marquez shouldn't be complaining(who knows if he even is...its just a story on a forum) amd Marquez should not have got in the ring while hurt.....
